Our Balinese Praying Girl Sculptures depict a native Balinese village girl in her formal temple dress in the act of Puja, the act of showing reverence to her God and making a spirtual connection to the Divine.

They are hand carved by a family of master woodcarvers living high in the hills in Bali, they are handcarved from a single piece of sustainably grown albesia wood. Albesia wood is an incredible resource, in the tropics trees can grow to a height of 70 ft and a girth of 3 ft within 4 years of germination. It is soft, light and easy to carve and as it grows so quickly it is very sustainable.

Our Sculptures are handpainted using gold leaf paint and their temple dresses are batiked by hand, the pattern of dress varies from sculpture to sculpture making each one unique, so you are getting a unique piece of art!

We have three sizes of Balinese Praying Girl Sculptures; our small ones are 60 cm tall, medium ones are 105 cm tall and our large ones are 145 cm tall. All sizes are approximate, as they are handmade they may differ slightly from the picture shown.
